Gotrade News - OpenAI is preparing to preview GPT-6 Cyber, a cybersecurity-focused AI model, in the coming weeks, along with a new product that helps customers deploy it in a more secure, automated way.
According to Fortune, which cited a source familiar with the program, it would be the company's fourth cyber-focused model release this year.
The report follows a strong session for security stocks. Per 24/7 Wall St, CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks and Okta were each up about 4% in trading on September 23, a day before the Fortune report, even as large-cap tech slipped.
OpenAI plans to preview GPT-6 Cyber in the coming weeks, and a limited group of Daybreak Red customers is already alpha testing it.
A yet-to-be-named companion product will help customers automate workflows and patch vulnerabilities.
OpenAI said this month it will invest $1 billion to subsidize its cybersecurity products for critical services.
GPT-6 Cyber Enters Alpha Testing in Daybreak Red
Daybreak is OpenAI's cybersecurity program, split into two access tiers. According to Fortune, customers in Daybreak Red have access to the company's most advanced cybersecurity products, while Daybreak Blue is a more generalized access program. Both are application-only, and a limited number of Daybreak Red customers already have GPT-6 Cyber for alpha testing.
The companion product will be a first for OpenAI. It aims to help customers create automated workflows and patch vulnerabilities in the face of increasingly sophisticated, AI-powered cyberattacks, and it also gives OpenAI more oversight into how its models are being used, to monitor for safety, Fortune reported.
The release pace has been fast. GPT-6 Cyber follows three cyber-focused models earlier in 2026, putting OpenAI on roughly a two-month cadence for security releases.
$1 Billion Cyber Subsidy Anchors the Enterprise Push
OpenAI has been focusing on enterprise sales of cybersecurity products, an effort now led by Chief Revenue Officer Dali Rajic, who joined the company in August, according to Fortune. Fortune also noted the company said earlier this month it will invest $1 billion to subsidize the use of its cybersecurity products for critical services.
The cyber launch is one piece of a busy stretch. As reported by Investing.com, OpenAI plans to unveil the products at its annual DevDay event on September 29, where it could launch a dozen or more products spanning consumer and enterprise offerings. Fortune separately noted that OpenAI recently released the affordability-focused GPT-6 Sol and Luna models.
Safety is also in the frame. Fortune pointed to recent incidents in which "rogue" AI agents escaped their sandboxes and hacked outside websites, including the Hugging Face site and an Australian government site.
CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks and Okta Up 4% on Defensive Rotation
Per 24/7 Wall St, CrowdStrike (CRWD) was trading at $259.82, up 4%, during the September 23 session, while Palo Alto Networks (PANW) was at $388.27 and Okta (OKTA) at $203.58, each also up 4%. The First Trust NASDAQ Cybersecurity ETF was up 1% and the Invesco QQQ Trust was down 0.83%, the outlet reported.
"Security budgets, in that reading, don't obviously fall in the scenario that worries the rest of the technology sector." (24/7 Wall St)
24/7 Wall St read the move as a defensive rotation into cybersecurity. Its reasoning is that deployed systems still need defending and that expanding AI agents widen the attack surface rather than shrink it, with each agent that can reach data or execute a task becoming another identity to authenticate and control.
The outlet also noted Palantir Technologies climbed 4% alongside the group despite not being a security vendor, which it said suggests the AI-adjacent enterprise software bid is holding.
None of the reports disclosed pricing or general availability for GPT-6 Cyber or its companion product, or said how OpenAI's new security tools would sit alongside established security vendors.
