Antam Silver Prices Drop Driven by Global Factors

Gotrade News - The silver price of PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) experienced a significant drop in trading today, Thursday, (03/12/2026). The Antam silver price fell by Rp 2,100 to Rp 53,300, following the global trend of declining gold prices.

The drop in Antam silver prices is noteworthy as it mirrors the downward trend in gold prices. The strengthening of the US dollar and inflation concerns are the primary drivers of this decline.

Spot gold prices fell by 0.4% after a brief increase. This situation was triggered by a 0.4% rise in the US dollar index, making dollar-denominated commodities more expensive for non-US investors.

While gold is viewed as a safe haven against inflation and uncertainty, high interest rates diminish its allure. Zaner Metals strategist Peter Grant highlights the tug-of-war between demand for safe-haven assets and interest rate concerns.

A 4% spike in oil prices due to tensions in the Middle East has also influenced markets. Attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz have raised supply disruption concerns, potentially impacting other commodities' prices.

Latest data shows the US consumer price index rising by 0.3% in February, aligning with forecasts. Analysts foresee this pressure possibly continuing to push gold prices down in the short term.

The need for cash further pressures gold and silver prices. However, the long-term outlook for gold remains positive, with potential upward trends after short-term profit-taking.

The annual growth of the US CPI by 2.4% supports stable inflation expectations. Investors are now awaiting the release of January's PCE price index data on Friday.
