Gotrade News - As Eid al-Fitr 1447 H/2026 approaches, Bank Indonesia (BI) sets a maximum currency exchange limit of IDR 5.3 million. This limit aims to meet the growing public need for the tradition of sharing during Eid.

Currency Exchange in Jakarta

BI has allocated IDR 52.6 trillion in banknotes in Jakarta, with IDR 1.8 trillion available through the Semarak Rupiah Ramadan and Berkah Idulfitri (SERAMBI) 2026 program.

This service reaches 3,191 exchange points across mosques, banks, and mobile cash units. BI anticipates an increased demand for small denominations up to IDR 118 trillion, rising from IDR 113 trillion the previous year.

Exchange Procedure and Official Locations

Currency exchange is also available in Makassar, including banks like Bank Sahabat Sampoerna and Bank Woori Saudara. BI requires reservations through the PINTAR app to avoid long queues.

Each customer can exchange up to IDR 5.3 million, consisting of denominations ranging from IDR 1,000 to IDR 50,000. This initiative aims to support the Eid traditions that involve social gatherings and the sharing of happiness.

Bank Indonesia ensures the service runs until March 15, providing flexibility for the public. Through this measure, BI aims to maintain price stability and the availability of high-quality rupiah during the HBKN.
