We’ve got an important update regarding your holdings in Civitas Solutions Inc. (CIVI).
As of January 30, 2026, Civitas Solutions has officially been acquired by SM Energy (SM). Following the completion of this transaction, CIVI is no longer traded as a standalone public company.
Here’s what this means for your portfolio.
What’s Happening?
An acquisition occurs when one company purchases another and integrates its business operations.
In this case, Civitas Solutions Inc. (CIVI) has been acquired by SM Energy. As a result, CIVI has ceased trading as a public stock.
Shareholders of CIVI have received shares of SM Energy according to the agreed conversion ratio.
How This Affects Your Gotrade Portfolio
Here’s exactly what has changed in your account:
1. Share Conversion Ratio
Your CIVI shares have been automatically converted into SM Energy shares based on the following distribution ratio:
1 CIVI share = 1.45 SM Energy shares
This means the number of SM Energy shares you received depends on how many CIVI shares you previously owned.
Example:
If you owned 10 shares of CIVI
10 × 1.45 = 14.5 shares of SM Energy
Your Gotrade portfolio now reflects your updated SM Energy share balance accordingly.
If the conversion resulted in fractional shares, those are reflected in your portfolio.
2. Removal of CIVI From Trading
Because the acquisition has been completed:
CIVI is no longer available for trading
The CIVI ticker has been removed from your portfolio
Your holdings now reflect SM Energy shares instead
Your portfolio value now reflects the market value of your SM Energy holdings based on current prices.
Action Required
No action is required from your side. The entire process has been handled automatically, including:
Conversion of CIVI shares into SM Energy shares
Portfolio updates reflecting the new holdings
Removal of CIVI from active positions
You can view your updated portfolio anytime directly in your Gotrade app.
