Finance Minister Purbaya Faces Coretax Issues

Gotrade News - The Coretax system woes have recently become a personal challenge for Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa. While submitting the annual income tax return, Purbaya explained that the system repeatedly malfunctioned, complicating access even with the assistance of tax officials. This situation highlights deficiencies in both accessibility and the system’s interface design.

Currently, the number of taxpayers who have activated a Coretax account exceeds 16 million. However, this service is not yet user-friendly. With a system often described as 'hanging', users are forced to attempt logging in multiple times without any direct explanation or solution from the system.

This negative condition is further exacerbated by the discovery of third-party applications that purportedly expedite Coretax access solely for large companies. The presence of these services makes the system appear unfair to the public. Purbaya plans to improve the system and eliminate such services to ensure equal service for all taxpayers.

Purbaya also shared his experience of a tax underpayment of around IDR 50 million. This arose from differing income sources from two positions, namely as the LPS and the Minister of Finance. This opportunity highlights issues related to more complex tax reporting and computation systems.

Identifying weaknesses in the Coretax system, Purbaya promises comprehensive improvements. Reform efforts will include an evaluation of the interface design and the elimination of unfair practices disrupting the application's function. The future hope is for a better and more equitable system for all users.

The reform initiatives will begin with the removal of scripts or additional software that favor large corporations. A special team from the Ministry of Finance has been prepared to address this. Purbaya hopes for a more reliable and transparent tax service in Indonesia for everyone.
