IHSG Under Pressure as Geopolitical Tensions Rise

Gotrade News - The IHSG faced significant pressure last week with a decline of 5.91%, influenced by global geopolitical uncertainties. Tensions between the US and Iran sparked market concerns, impacting commodity prices like oil and coal.

This pressure was exacerbated by foreign investors' net sales totaling IDR 1.2 trillion. The surge in commodity prices posed a threat to global inflation, fueling speculation about tighter long-term monetary policy.

Global energy supply uncertainty rose after Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz, a critical oil distribution route. This added volatility to stock markets, including major Wall Street indices.

Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, stated that the strait remains open for non-U.S. allied vessels, providing a slight relief amid tensions. However, geopolitical risks still overshadow global market psychology.

Domestically, market focus is on the government's fiscal policy. Budget adjustments to maintain fiscal deficit are a major concern that could affect macroeconomic stability.

Indonesia's stock market is expected to be volatile during this short trading week. The extended Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr holidays mean trading will only occur over two days.

Investors are advised to remain cautious and selective. Stocks with strong fundamentals are deemed more attractive amid high market uncertainty.

Indo Premier Sekuritas recommends issuers like PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA). These stocks are supported by foreign fund inflows and rising global coal prices.

To cope with instability, IPOT has introduced a smart money solution. This digital capital market savings tool aims to help investors optimize funds with lower risk.
