This initiative is part of the 2026 BUMN Free Travel, which provides transportation via bus, ship, and train. Through this program, InJourney Airports supports seamless mobility during the Eid al-Fitr travel period.

InJourney Airports' Director of Finance and Risk Management, Yanindya Bayu Wirawan, emphasized that traveling home for Eid (mudik) is an important tradition during the celebration in Indonesia. The program offers services across 37 airports and supports communities by providing safe and free transportation. The homecoming experience becomes more organized and professional.

On March 17, 2026, InJourney Airports dispatched travelers using six buses from Soekarno-Hatta Airport to Solo, Yogyakarta, Lampung, and Palembang. An additional bus departed from Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta. A total of 245 travelers set off by bus.

Earlier, on March 15, 2026, around 400 travelers left by ship from Soekarno-Hatta Port Makassar to Tanjung Perak Port Surabaya. On March 16, 2026, 805 travelers departed from Hunimua Port Ambon to Waipirit Port Pulau Seram.

InJourney also arranged the departure of 576 travelers using the Jaka Tingkir Train from Pasar Senen Station to Purwosari Station and Solo Balapan on March 18, 2026. This approach underscores BUMN's commitment to facilitating the Eid travel journey.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Tourism noted that 4.2 million residents chose not to travel home and opted to celebrate Eid in Jakarta. The Deputy for Marketing, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, mentioned that Jakarta offers a variety of attractive tourist destinations for those staying, such as Monas and Taman Mini.

Ni Made Ayu believes that the decision to remain in Jakarta will impact the local economy. The ministry will assess the financial movement with various stakeholders. The Ministry of Tourism hopes many from outside Jakarta will visit after the holidays for leisure.

The decision to support smooth travel and create opportunities for local tourism is expected to have a positive impact on the economy and society at large, adding vibrancy to this year's Eid celebrations.
