JCI Pressured by Global Sentiments

Gotrade News - The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) kicked off this week with a significant drop. JCI fell 1.08% to 7,020.53 at the opening, reflecting strong pressure from foreign investor sell-offs amounting to IDR 1.89 trillion.

Foreign investors were seen selling shares in the financial sector, such as BBCA, BBRI, and BBNI. This indicates market uncertainty triggered by global sentiments. The Middle East conflict and fluctuating oil prices are influencing investor decisions.

Mirae Asset Securities highlighted the pressured investor risk appetite. A risk-off approach dominates the market amid global economic threats due to the war in Iran. Additionally, the Fed Chairman's speech and this week's economic data are primary focuses.

The Fed's hawkish sentiment could strengthen the US dollar and bond yields. This risks putting further pressure on the rupiah, SBN, and JCI. Market reactions to this policy will determine the market direction in the coming weeks.

Domestically, JCI will be affected by the release of inflation and trade balance data. The government's policies on energy subsidies and deficit limits are also under market scrutiny.

Analysts warn that the weakening JCI might reach levels of 6,500-6,000. This is due to a three-day consecutive weakening trend. Global uncertainty will be a main factor driving further corrections.

William Hartanto from WH Project assesses that despite the current pressure on JCI, the long-term trend still shows potential for an uptrend. JCI has shown an upward movement since 2008, although it remains unclear if this reflects the market's lowest point.

Fani Suherman from BNI Sekuritas also predicts that JCI will hover around the support level of 6,900-7,000. The resistance level is expected to be in the range of 7,130-7,160 as the market seeks direction amidst global uncertainty.

Going forward, investors need to stay vigilant on global developments. Risk-inducing speeches, Fed policies, and economic data will influence market sentiment and investment decisions.
