The Indonesian government has confirmed that the national rice stock remains secure despite the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Presidential Chief of Staff, Muhammad Qodari, stated that rice availability has reached 144% of national demand. This measure is crucial to maintaining supply and price stability during Ramadan and Eid.

  • Rice stock is secure for Ramadan and Eid.
  • Indonesia achieves rice self-sufficiency.
  • Food security strengthened amid global conflict.

The SPHP (Food Supply and Price Stabilization) program is being implemented by the National Food Agency to ensure equitable rice distribution. As of March 8, 2026, distribution has reached 7,387,270 kilograms. This availability is expected to meet food needs for the next 11 months without considering the next harvest.

On January 7, 2026, Indonesia was declared to have achieved rice self-sufficiency, with production reaching 34.69 million tons in 2025. This figure surpasses the domestic requirement of around 31.08 million tons, reflecting a 13.36% increase from the previous year.

This condition illustrates strong national food security, even amid global uncertainties such as the Middle East crisis. Muhammad Qodari emphasized that various programs aim to prepare the nation for global food crises without waiting for a severe crisis to occur.

The government also recorded national rice availability in March 2026 at 27.9 million tons. This stock comprises Bulog reserves of approximately 3.76 million tons, with projections indicating an increase. This quantity is sufficient for national needs for up to 11 months.

In addition to food security, the government is also enhancing public welfare through the Free Health Check (CKG) program, targeting 130 million people by 2026. To date, over 13 million people have been served through this program as a preventive step to improve national health.
