Gotrade News - The number of accidents during the 2026 Lebaran holiday period has seen a significant decline. According to data from the Ministry of Transportation, the reduction reached 6.31%, with fatalities decreasing by up to 31.19%. This achievement comes amid a high level of public mobility, reaching 147.55 million people during the exodus and return periods.

Dudy Purwagandhi, the Minister of Transportation, stressed the importance of cross-sector collaboration in reducing the number of accidents. Support from various ministries, agencies, and local governments played a crucial role in this success. “This year’s Lebaran transport operations ran smoothly thanks to the cooperation of all stakeholders,” Dudy stated.

The use of public transportation increased by 10.87% compared to last year, indicating growing public confidence in public transport during the Lebaran season. This uptick not only reflects travel activity but also the effectiveness of Lebaran traffic management.

The Integrated Lebaran Transport Command Post 2026, operational from March 13 to 30, helped monitor the national exodus movement. Collaboration among the National Police Traffic Corps, state-owned enterprises, and transportation operators ensured smooth traffic flow.

The closure of the command post on March 30 marked the end of services for this year’s Lebaran period. With no significant incidents disrupting the flow, the Minister of Transportation extended his appreciation to all parties involved in managing Lebaran transport.

Going forward, the government plans to evaluate congestion at ports and toll roads. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of transportation services for future Lebaran periods.

Dudy emphasized that the government’s and stakeholders’ commitment to building infrastructure and coordination must continue to be strengthened. This is to ensure the safety and comfort of travel for the public during Indonesia's major holiday periods.
