Gotrade News - The government has announced an extension for the 2025 tax filing period. This relief, conveyed by the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT), is available until April 30, 2026.
This policy provides convenience for taxpayers who could not report on time, freeing them from penalties until April.
The Director of Dissemination, Services, and Public Relations of the DGT stated this decision is related to the implementation of a new tax administration system.
The normal deadline for annual tax filing is March 31, 2026. However, this penalty-free extension represents a proactive step by the government.
This policy is outlined in the Director General of Taxes Decision Number KEP-55/PJ/2026. The initiative aims to support a smoother transition to a better tax administration system.
Additionally, the Minister of Finance mentioned that the government will issue a Circular Letter as a legal basis for this policy's implementation.
Taxpayers who have already received administrative penalties can also benefit from penalty elimination, applicable during this effective relaxation period.
A similar policy is set in announcement number PENG-27/PJ.09/2026, which governs the removal of late fees and interest.
This move shows the government's commitment to facilitating the tax reporting process for the public. It is hoped that this policy will encourage tax compliance among individual taxpayers.
