Gotrade News - As the peak of the 2026 Lebaran return traffic approaches, the Ministry of Transportation has revealed a potential surge in travel on March 28 and 29. They advise the public to manage their travel times to avoid congestion.

  • Density is expected at ports and major toll roads.
  • Intensive coordination is being carried out to ensure road safety for drivers.
  • The effectiveness of traffic control relies on public awareness.

Key points such as Bakauheni Port and popular toll routes will see increased vehicle volumes. Thus, travel arrangements and schedule adjustments are crucial.

Meanwhile, ASTRA Tol Cipali reported a significant rise in transportation volume, with up to 117,000 vehicles congesting the route towards Jakarta. Fatigue is causing many drivers to rest on the roadside, they added.

To address this situation, ASTRA is coordinating with the police and implementing traffic engineering measures, specifically Contra Flow, on congested toll sections. This step is aimed at minimizing traffic slowdown.

ASTRA is also increasing the number of tow truck units to promptly resolve vehicle breakdown incidents, expediting traffic recovery.

The Ministry and transportation operators have agreed to optimize transportation capacity, such as increasing vessel numbers at ports. Furthermore, personnel readiness on the ground is a primary focus to support these efforts.

Public participation plays a vital role in the success of these efforts. The community is urged not to plan trips all at once during peak times to expedite a return to normal traffic flow.

All parties involved hope the public will adhere to the regulations and suggestions given to ensure a safe and pleasant homecoming experience.
