Gotrade News - U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that the planned meeting with China's President Xi Jinping is postponed. The delay aims to allow Trump to focus on the ongoing developments in the conflict with Iran.

The meeting was initially scheduled for late March in Beijing. However, Trump prefers to remain in America to directly monitor the evolving conflict situation.

Trump clarified that the postponement carries no ulterior motives. He emphasized that staying in Washington is part of his responsibilities related to the war.

The U.S.-China relations are under the spotlight amid global tensions and the Iran conflict. Although the personal rapport between the two leaders is reportedly good, circumstances have necessitated a rescheduling.

Pressure from Iran's energy blockade in the Strait of Hormuz has shifted Trump’s focus. He hopes for Chinese assistance in securing the crucial energy route.

Nevertheless, the U.S. Treasury Secretary stressed that logistical factors rather than the request to guard the Strait of Hormuz are the main reasons for the postponement.

China, being one of Iran's partners, continues to oppose the war. This stance further complicates the current trade relations between the two nations.

The U.S. Treasury Secretary noted that the meeting won’t be delayed due to any demands for escorting the Strait of Hormuz, aiming to ease concerns over further escalation.

Officials mentioned that the delay is only temporary. Trump still targets a visit to China in the near future once the situation becomes more stable.
