Gotrade News - Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi highlights the non-compliance of logistics operators continuing to run large trucks ahead of the 2026 Eid exodus. This violation occurs despite restrictions in effect since March 13, 2026. It poses a risk of escalating congestion at various transport hubs.
The government has issued a Joint Decree (SKB) limiting the operation of large-capacity goods vehicles until March 29, 2026. Nonetheless, several three-axle trucks and beyond are still seen in operation, even on toll roads. The minister asserted that violators will face penalties.
The public should be concerned as it can impact the smooth flow of the holiday exodus and road safety. The restriction aims to maintain public mobility and avoid excessive congestion. Queues at crossings like Gilimanuk Port are among the repercussions.
The minister has ordered an increase in ferry operations and the implementation of the unload-depart scheme (TBB) to alleviate congestion. Some large vessels are being diverted to accelerate vehicle transitions at docks. This strategy is expected to cut transition times from 45 minutes to 30 minutes.
Collaboration with the police is also underway to enforce traffic engineering. Large trucks, especially those heading to Gilimanuk Port, have been temporarily halted as part of law enforcement measures. This is done to reduce congestion and improve vehicle flow.
The Transport Minister stressed the importance of adherence to these regulations for safety and reducing the risk of road accidents. Exceptions are made for vehicles carrying fuel, essential goods, and other vital items.
These violations highlight the challenges of enforcing regulations during peak travel periods. Prevention and law enforcement measures are priorities to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Field officers will continue educating drivers about the importance of adhering to operational restrictions. Rule enforcement is a collective government effort for public safety.
To logistics business operators, the minister reminds that complying with operational truck restrictions is key to minimizing negative impacts on mobility and travel safety this Eid.
With the restrictions already in place, it is hoped that this year's exodus will proceed more orderly and safely.
