Gotrade News - The S&P 500 hit a fresh all-time high of 7,041.28 on Wednesday, up 0.26%, fueled by growing optimism over a US-Iran peace deal. The Nasdaq Composite rose 0.36% to 24,102.70, extending its winning streak to 12 consecutive sessions, the longest since 2009.

Key Takeaways:

  • S&P 500 climbed to a record 7,041.28 while Nasdaq posted 12 straight sessions of gains
  • Trump announced a 10-day Israel-Lebanon ceasefire effective Wednesday evening
  • Analysts warn US GDP growth sits around 2% and could weaken further

President Trump announced via Truth Social that Israel and Lebanon agreed to a 10-day ceasefire. The deal followed conversations with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The ceasefire serves as a critical precondition for resuming stalled US-Iran negotiations. Trump indicated that follow-up talks with Tehran would likely take place over the weekend.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 115 points or 0.24% to close at 48,578.72. For the week, the S&P 500 advanced 3.3% while the Nasdaq surged 5.2%.

The rally erased all S&P 500 losses accumulated since the Iran conflict erupted in March. This dramatic recovery came after the index had corrected more than 9% from its peak.

Risks Remain

Rob Williams, Chief Investment Strategist at Sage Advisory, cautioned that US GDP growth hovers around 2%. He added that the economy "could dip lower in coming quarters" despite the market euphoria.

Despite major indices hitting new records, economic fundamentals have not fully recovered. Investors should remain selective given lingering geopolitical uncertainty and fragile growth prospects.
