Gotrade News - The Indonesian government has implemented a Work From Home (WFH) policy for civil servants, one day a week, starting April 1, 2026. This policy aims to tackle energy efficiency challenges amid unpredictable global scenarios.
This initiative is also recommended for the private sector, state-owned enterprises, and regional government-owned enterprises. The implementation of WFH aims to enhance productivity and the quality of public services while supporting national energy efficiency.
The unstable geopolitical status in the Middle East affects global oil prices. Through WFH, the government hopes to reduce fuel consumption and boost the use of public transportation.
A circular from the Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform and the Minister of Home Affairs mandates WFH for civil servants every Friday. This step is expected to encourage digital transformation and improve work efficiency in the government sector.
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) also supports this initiative by implementing WFH every Friday for its employees. This is expected to aid in energy savings and adaptation to global economic dynamics.
Chair of OJK Friderica Widyasari Dewi emphasized that tasks will continue smoothly despite WFH. Public service functions requiring physical presence will operate as usual.
While this policy is driven by the need for energy efficiency, OJK ensures that it is regularly evaluated to adapt to the latest situations.
With the restriction of official vehicles by up to 50%, the government encourages the use of electric vehicles and public transport to reduce fossil energy usage.
Through this policy, collaboration between the public and private sectors in national energy conservation efforts is anticipated.
