Gotrade News - The Indonesian government is set to announce a work from home (WFH) policy for civil servants and private sector employees. This announcement is scheduled for release this month, pending directives from President Prabowo Subianto.

Arif Satria, Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), stated that BRIN has long adopted a flexible work system. Currently, BRIN operates on a model of three days working from the office and two days working from home or alternative locations.

This WFH scheme is seen as a way to enhance work efficiency and reduce fuel consumption. The policy also supports digital transformation within the government.

Acting Head of the Bureau of Communication and Information at the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, Mohammad Averrouce, mentioned that the WFH policy will not be bound by sanctions. Instead, a flexible approach is taken in accordance with the characteristics of civil service jobs.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto confirmed that the WFH policy is ready to be launched. However, its implementation awaits a final directive from the President.

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa added that this decision is final at the government level. He explained the importance of energy savings as the primary goal of WFH.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia disclosed that further studies are still underway. Nonetheless, energy efficiency is the priority in determining the policy.

Officials assure that even though the policy is flexible, public service quality remains intact. The use of technology supports task execution in a more dynamic way.

The policy takes into account the readiness of infrastructure and the characteristics of jobs in each institution. This change is expected to enhance efficiency and have a positive impact on reducing fuel consumption.
