Gotrade News - Samsung and five of its affiliates have committed $1 billion to Helix Digital Infrastructure, an AI infrastructure company formed by KKR & Co. (KKR) and backed by Nvidia (NVDA), according to KKR's official announcement on September 28.
Samsung Electronics is putting in $500 million, and five group affiliates are contributing the other $500 million, as reported by Reuters via Investing.com.
The commitment builds on more than $10 billion of capital that founding investors KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority, Nvidia and Vistra (VST) committed to the Helix strategy at launch, per the release. Samsung made its commitment through KKR's long-duration capital fund.
Helix invests in, delivers and manages AI-enabling infrastructure for hyperscalers, including hyperscale data centers, power generation and transmission, and fiber connectivity.
According to The Korea Herald, the company launched in June 2026 and is led by Adam Selipsky, who served as chief executive of Amazon Web Services from 2021 to 2024.
What Each Samsung Affiliate Brings to Helix
According to Helix and KKR, the company expects to explore opportunities to use Samsung's capabilities in advanced technology, construction, energy storage and cooling, alongside Nvidia's expertise in full-stack technology and AI infrastructure and Vistra's role in power.
The release describes the Samsung businesses behind those capabilities, from memory and foundry chips to battery backup units.

Samsung said the investment would help support the global rollout of AI data centers while creating collaboration opportunities among the participating affiliates, per Reuters via Investing.com.
Helix CEO Calls Samsung Deal a Vote of Confidence
Selipsky, Helix's co-founder and CEO, framed the deal as validation of the company's approach in a statement released with the announcement.

For KKR, the deal adds to a digital infrastructure and power portfolio that the firm says exceeds $75 billion in investments globally, and to roughly $9 billion it says it has invested in Korea across strategies, according to the release.
